Best Breakfast Near Westbrook (2024)

Best Breakfast Near Westbrook (1)Westbrook—a former industrial city with the rehabbed mill buildings to show for it—is currently in the midst of a vibrant revitalization, and it seems people have heard the news.

The population has grown in this city faster than any other in the state, so it only stands to reason that the economy—including small businesses, such as restaurants—would do the same.

Westbrook has plenty of dining options—particularly those of the breakfast variety—and if you can’t find what you’re looking for here, there are a host of others in nearby Portland to choose from (distances from downtown Westbrook are noted in these cases).

Map Of Westbrook Breakfast Restaurants

The map below shows the locations of every Westbrook breakfast spot mentioned in this post:

Brea Lu

I thought perhaps this was someone’s name until I saw the sign out front: Breakfast & Lunch. Clever! Open for—well, you know—and serving up delicious comfort food fare made from scratch, the folks at Brea Lu know their stuff.

The morning menu has options like omelets, Benedicts, combination plates, scrambles, and pancakes, all made to order and served up with a smile. For something different to break your fast, try the Pastrami & Swiss Scramble: Pastrami, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese.

Location: 9 Cumberland St, Westbrook, ME 04092

Roots Café

The friendly, health-forward people at Roots Café use all-natural ingredients in all of their fare and serve only organic, fair-trade coffee. The space is bright, airy, and welcoming, and the breakfast menu, while small (the coffee and tea menu is twice as big), has just enough options to please most folks.

Customizable egg sandwiches, crepes, and omelets, along with Muffin Tin Frittatas, bagels, quiche, muffins, donuts, and toast round out the offerings; I suggest the Morning Maple Bacon Panini, with bacon, egg, cheddar, and Maine maple syrup.

Location: 20 School St, Westbrook, ME 04092

Cece’s Diner & Bar

Serving breakfast all day, seven days a week (lunch served from 11-2 Wednesday through Saturday only), Cece’s menu offerings are extensive. Featuring 3-egg omelets, Benedicts, pancakes, French toast, combination platters, and bowls, you’d have to be a pretty picky person indeed to not find something to love at this friendly eatery.

They’ve even got something called a “Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole” as a side dish! But in the spirit of my “sweet and savory for breakfast” rule, I’d order the Ultimate Bowl (2 eggs on homefries with bacon, ham, sausage, and green peppers, onions, broccoli, tomatoes, and mushrooms sautéed in a parmesan garlic cream sauce) and a blueberry muffin.

Location: 1557 Bridgton Rd, Westbrook, ME 04092

River’s Edge Deli

Featuring limited dine-in tables, take-out service, and outdoor seating, the River’s Edge Deli offers a basic menu full of inexpensive, made-to-order, homemade food. There are nine breakfast sandwiches to choose from, a breakfast burrito, two omelets, a combination plate, and French toast or pancakes; you’ll also have several sides to consider, such as home fries, muffins, or breakfast meats.

To tick all my morning meal requirements, I’d go for the Breakfast Burrito (eggs, cheese, green peppers, onions, salsa, sour cream, and choice of meat) with two slices of French toast on the side.

Mister Bagel Westbrook

One of my favorite treats for breakfast (or lunch, or dinner, for that matter) is a bagel with lox and cream cheese, with all the appropriate fixings. Mister Bagel has that—and a whole lot more—for the breakfast crowd.

The menu features far more than bagels for your morning meal; in fact, you may forget that you’re at a bagel shop. Build your own combination platter, French toast, omelets, breakfast sandwiches and burritos, loaded homefries…oh, yes—and the bagels. 15 flavors of those, along with 8 different cream cheese spreads, and 3 specialty open-faced bagels…including my favorite, Sliced Lox. Heaven.

Location: 609 Main St, Westbrook, ME 04092

Digby’s Variety

If you’re in a hurry but don’t want to miss your morning meal, head to Digby’s for homemade, grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches.

Choose ham, bacon, or sausage to go with your egg and cheese on a grilled English muffin…or if you’re really hungry or are feeding a crowd, try Digby’s made-to-order breakfast pizza, with scrambled eggs, cheese, and choice of meat and veggies. It comes in 10” or 16”, and like all pizza, it’s just as good cold as it is hot.

Location: 110 New Gorham Rd, Westbrook, ME 04092

Corsetti’s

Served until 11 a.m., the breakfast menu at Corsetti’s has just enough to satisfy everyone.

Egg combination plates, omelets, burritos, breakfast sandwiches, French toast, and the pièce de résistance, the Corsetti’s Breakfast Pizza. It comes in two sizes (10” and 16”), and you can select anything you want to top the scrambled eggs and cheese. I’d probably choose sausage, onion, peppers, and tomato—along with French toast on the side, because sweet and savory.

Location: 125 Bridgton Rd, Westbrook, ME 04092

The Sinful Kitchen

Featuring indoor dining and take-out, The Sinful Kitchen is less than 10 minutes from downtown Westbrook. Dining space is limited, and reservations are strongly suggested for this cozy, popular spot; the owner has celiac disease, thus almost every item on the menu can be made gluten-free.

Options include creative, elevated fare like Huevos Rancheros, Waffle Pizzas, and a Monte Cristo…but I’d opt for the Brunch Burger: A grass-fed burger on a grilled bulkie roll with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and a sunny-side-up egg. Oh, and a waffle on the side, please.

Location: 952 Brighton Ave, Portland, ME 04102 (9 minutes)

City Farmhouse Kitchen & Bar

You’ll enjoy farm-to-table fare in a rustic-chic vibe at City Farmhouse Kitchen & Bar, located just over 10 minutes from Westbrook…and well worth the short drive.

Served from 6:30-11 every day, the breakfast menu is burgeoning with homemade, farm-fresh food—every ingredient grown, raised, or made by someone involved with (or at least friendly with) the restaurant.

Why not start your day off right with the North Country Scramble (hen’s eggs, wild mushrooms, scallions, tomatoes, spinach, smoked ham, aged cheddar, and homemade toast) with a grilled corn muffin?

Location: 200 Sable Oaks Dr, South Portland, ME 04106 (11 minutes)

Tony’s Donut Shop

One of my other favorite foods is cake…and what is a donut but round cake with a hole in the middle? The folks at Tony’s make all of their donuts and pastries fresh every morning—and they open promptly at 5:00 (that’s a.m.) for those of you who want your donuts hot from the oven.

Featuring all the traditional favorite flavors—too many to mention here—be sure to get a dozen or so, because donuts are just as good for dessert as they are for breakfast.

Location: 9 Bolton St, Portland, ME 04102 (14 minutes)

Bayou Kitchen

Since 2006, the folks at the Bayou Kitchen have been whipping up breakfast deliciousness crafted from local ingredients. Featuring table, counter, and take-out service for their Cajun-themed breakfast and lunch menu, the Bayou Kitchen feels like home—and the comfort food you’ll enjoy there only furthers that feeling.

If you like a little kickiness to your food, try the Cajun Scramble: Crawfish, Andouille sausage, jalapeños, and cheddar. Best part? You can choose cornbread as one of your sides—which means both sweet and savory needs are attended to.

Location: 543 Deering Ave, Portland, ME 04103 (15 minutes)
