Yashiro Nene (八 (や) 尋 (しろ) 寧 (ね) 々 (ね) Yashiro Nene^?), is first and foremost, a variant of Yashiro Nene, whose very existence has been altered thanks to the actions of Kako and Mirai, which led to the creation of the New Present.

In this New Present, Yashiro Nene is a first-year high school student at Kamome Gakuen's High School Division, the same as her original counterpart. But unlike her original counterpart however, she was never Hanako's Assistant, and therefore, didn't become cursed by ingesting the Mermaid Scales. Additionally, she got the role of Dorothy in Class 1-A's School Play of the Wizard of Oz instead of Hanazashi.

While her life has been so altered that she doesn't know who Minamoto Kou and Mitsuba Sousuke is, she is one of the few characters in the New Present to retain some memories of the previous iteration of herself, namely the memory of Hanako-kun. However, after screaming Hanako's name at the conclusion of the school play, she instantly regains all her original counterpart's memories, to the point that she later interroigates Akane for it.

Regular School Uniform[]

Just like her original counterpart, Yashiro Nene wears the same Kamome Gakuen high school girl's school uniform, with her typical skull brooch on her chest and magatama hairpins on her hair to boot.

Dorothy Costume[]

Unlike her original counterpart however, this iteration of Yashiro Nene got the role of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. As Dorothy, her costume consisted of an elaborate version of a beige-colored dress that is typical of American young women in the 1930s, with long, possibly separate sleeves that are puffed at the end, a dark outer vest-like top with a blue ribbon at the bottom, and several layers of skirts. She also wears a collar with a white ribbon, and a hair cloth at the back of her hair, which she braids into a pair of pigtails. She still retains her magatama hairpins in her costume.

The outermost skirt is divided into half with a plaid design and light blue flower decorations near the bottom. The second layer of the skirt have a lined design and seemingly have two rows of pearls sewed at both slightly above the bottom, and at the bottom. The last layer of the skirts is puffy and covers the rest of the underskirt area.

Finally, she still wears her signature stockings with the stellar motif that cover her feet. And the shoes that she wears are white or silver in color with a large ribbon bow at the top, which harkens to the silver shoes that Dorothy wears.

Personality[]

Presumably, her personality is the same as that of her original counterpart, except that she is more confident in herself as the Star of the play, and therefore, is more popular with the students at Kamome Gakuen. Additionally, she is still flustered whenever people like Aoi perform seemingly romantic gestures on her, to the point that her heart beats intensely.

However, some memories from her original counterpart seep into her personality, which first manifested when she started having dreams of her previous iteration holding a plant within a flower pot representing the original timeline and confronting the Clock Keepers Kako and Mirai over their changing of the present, represented by the changing of said plant with another, better plant. Additionally, it became more evident when she wondered why she worked her butt off to do well at practices and did her best at the performance of the School Play, as if she was trying to perform for someone. This all culminated in her screaming that very same person's name on stage. And at that very moment, she gained complete recollection of all her original counterpart's memories.

While Nene is normally upbeat and bubbly, she can get fed up if she is annoyed, which happened to Aoi Akane in both cases, as she angrily grabbed him by the undershirt after regaining all her memories, and later, she reacted with disgust and annoyance to his overreacting reaction to Aoi's revealed engagement, and left him alone in the Student Council Room soon after.

Lack of Powers[]

As her history has been altered, Yashiro Nene had never encountered Hanako in the beginning, and therefore, wasn't cursed after ingesting the Mermaid Scales. As a result, she doesn't have the power to become a supernatural fish whenever she is hit with water.

Additionally, whether this iteration of Yashiro Nene has Kannagi-related abilities like her original counterpart remains unknown.

Memory Retention[]

This ability is possessed by some of the characters in the New Present, wherein they are still capable of remembering some details or memories that were originally possessed by their original counterparts. According to Akane however, this only lasts three days before the new memories overtake the older ones.

As one of the characters in the New Present to have such an ability, Yashiro Nene remembers certain details of her previous iteration. However, when compared to those held by Teru and Akane, it is very slight, as the only indication that she remembers anything of her previous iteration are the allegorical dreams of her original iteration holding a flower pot and meeting Kako and Mirai, and barely remembering Hanako enough to shout his name.

Initially only a partial recollection, the moment Yashiro Nene shouted Hanako's name, all other memories of her previous iteration came flooding onto her mind, thus making her completely remember everything, in addition to her New Present memories, and leading her to interrogate Akane on what happened.
